Remarkable sequence on ESPN:
Steve Phillips talked about why the Dodgers were winning (7 games over .500!). Phillips said it was thanks in part to Manny. This was correct. Then he said it was because of the attitude Manny brought to the team. Manny’s lightheartedness helped the other players. Not Manny’s hr’s. Not his .400ish average since going to the Dodgers. No. His attitude.
Steve Phillips: member of the Prometheus Society.
Then later on ESPN Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon AGREED that the US rider cup team might do better without TIger Woods. Not because he’s not healthy, in fact the implication was that the team would do better without a completely healthy Tiger Woods. Then the US wouldn’t become complacent and think they were the favorites and might actually try to win. Kornheiser said the Europeans play more “as a team.”
“As a Team” in fucking golf.
Lastly, our friends over at collegefastbreak seemed to cause a bit of a stir with this post. Could’ve made that post pretty much any of the last 10 years and no one would bat an eye. Apparently not this year. Six comments as I type this (granted, 3 were from me and eagles). Two words: Eron Rileyheisman. Then again, maybe Duke finishes 2-9. We’re not “Duke fans” as much as “Duke non-haters.”
EDIT: Didn’t mean for ALL of our writers/readers to go attack them. Why do we care about Duke football so much? Oh well. ACC football better become good again eventually.
