Ok, Ok, the Redskins are Kinda Funny.

Portis is funny.  Cooley’s ok.  The driver (apparently Randell-el?) is absolutely hillarious tho.  Im pretty sure this is impromptu.  If it’s scripted then nevermind.

Redskins Secret Weapon

July 3, 2008

I hate to knock off the amazing post currently on top, so I’m putting a timer on this and it will be posted once I’m out of town (this is pretty cool).

Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham has improved his game… significantly… during the offseason. Here’s video of one of his recent kicks at Redskins Park: SWEEEEET! With a leg like that he could kick a bowling ball 50 yards. Suisham and 6th-round draft pick Durant Brooks hope to improve an already-great special teams unit. Brooks has quite a leg himself: HUUUGE!

OK so I admit maybe only one video is real (obviously somebody had too much time on their hands to make a LeBron James-like video), but hey at least Brooks is a beast.

How could we miss this?

Man this blog’s had a huuuuge slew of posts recently. There have been some great posts ranging from soccer to Imus. But no mention of our true passion? Our real, original calling for this blog? That’s right! THIS IS OUR GAME. I’m going to save this article for someone else (Re: I’m lazy) but here are some quick hmm…observations:

Straight from ESPNHoopGurlz, there’s an e-ticket on the 6-8 women’s basketball player Brittney Griner.

That, she definitely is not. Brittney Griner wields the biggest booby trap of all — she is a high school girl who can dunk a basketball.

Last summer was her first on anything resembling a national circuit and, in Birmingham, Ala., she collected 19 blocks against Essence, the team that went on to win Nike Nationals and earn acclaim as the best team in club basketball last year.

I gotta admit, 19 blocks is pretty sweet

“I watched Candace Parker since she was 13 years old,” says Lynch, who’s coached seven McDonald’s All-Americans with the Belles. “You could see her special skills. But what makes Brittney Griner different is that she plays more like a boy than any girl I’ve ever seen. She’s now taken the game above the rim, which no female has ever done.”

That sounds like a challenge. I think people (and not just WNBA fans) might, might watch a game between Parker and Griner.

And in completely unrelated news (but tailored for capitalsports), here’s a video of Clinton Portis’ costumes:

That was awesome, I just gained so much respect for 1 Redskin.

NFL owners opt out of CBA… but no disaster brewing

May 20, 2008

NFL owners voted this morning to opt out of the current labor agreement citing mostly fiscal reasons; these include that half of their revenues must go to the players and that bonuses cannot be reclaimed after a player violates his contract. But it’s not like the deal ends now – the vote was only to shorten the deal by two years so it ends in 2011, with an uncapped year in 2010. In the next two seasons, I fully expect the owners and the NFLPA to iron out a new deal which would negate the uncapped year and all the drama which people seem to be drumming up. For both the owners and players, too much money is on the line for them to not figure out a deal before disaster sets in for the NFL. In my opinion, one uncapped year could very easily be this disaster – not just because of the monster squads Dan Snyder, Jerry Jones, and others would build/buy, but because it would be nearly impossible to go back to a capped situation considering most teams would have doled out ridiculous contracts, and the players would be making boatloads of money. However, I still think all of this is irrelevant because we should have a new contract in two years.

Well… what would happen if the players went on strike in 2011? The answer is obvious – the Redskins would win the Super Bowl. Ok everybody screams homerism, but the Redskins have won the Super Bowl in both the strike years. The big strike was in 1982 where teams only played 9 games. 16 teams went to the playoffs and it was done tournament-style by conference. The Skins got revenge on the Dolphins in the Super Bowl for the loss in 1972. In 1987 there was a smaller strike which only canceled 1 game (although 3 games were played with replacement players). This Super Bowl featured the most dominant quarter in SB history – In the 2nd, the Redskins scored 5 touchdowns to 0 points by the Broncos. So maybe a strike wouldn’t be such a bad thing?
